From a single Italian immigrant to a Mother with a dream, a family property, now owned by a non-profit is set to become the most unique on-the-job vocational training concept for adults with IDD (Intellectual developmental differences) in Texas.
The Mingus Job Academy (MJA) is a vocational training business created by Stand Up, LLC and a non-profit organization, The Each & Everyone Foundation. These two entities have joined forces to create an environment for vocational on-the-job training for adults with IDD (Intellectual Developmental Differences) and other learning or physical differences. These differences often make entering the job market more challenging. MJA is an environment where specialized training gives individuals practical work experience in the real world.
Within the 2.2 acre setting of eight tiny houses, vegetable gardens, a boutique, a farm-to-table restaurant and coffee bar, and a community-run animal shelter, MJA will teach a wide variety of job skills targeted towards the needs and abilities of its participants. AND, with pay for up to four hours daily!
MJA will be supported by Austin's Underdawgs and the Each & Everyone Foundation
